Faces

All my life I've tried on different faces,
Trying to find the one that fits in all the right places,
With some faces I am brave and strong,
With others I am wild and wrong.
Each face lead to a lesson learned,
A mistake, a trial, or achievement earned.
And through the ups and downs of this roller coaster ride,
I changed my face more times than the ocean tide.

Find the face that makes you the best,
Find the face that fits you more than the rest,
Find what makes you happy more than anything,
Find what makes you smile, dance, and sing.

At times I changed my face to please others,
Other times I changed my face to hang with my brothers.
I changed based on what the world expected,
Changed due to the values my family respected.
Face after face I tried on like dresses in a clothing store,
And after each try I find myself wanting more.
I begin to search harder to find something to replace,
All the doubts and insecurities I feel with each wrong face.

Find the face that makes you the best,
Find the face that fits you more than the rest,
Find what makes you happy more than anything,
Find what makes you smile, dance, and sing.

Who you are is the face you show,
And when you find the right face you'll know

Now I know, I found the face that's the best fit,
The face of who I want to be down to the very last bit.
I don't care what anyone will say,
Cause they don't get me in any way.
And I will be that me for all to see,
Because that's the me I want to be.
