Daily Colors

Every day is like a blank canvas
Waiting to be filled with the colors that it brings
Each color with a certain meaning
All making the portrait of me

A streak of red for the love I feel when that boy makes me smile,
A dash of yellow for a happy thought that stayed awhile,
A line of black for the angry words I said to my brother,
A dab of green for the envy I felt towards another,
A hint of blue for the sadness I see in the world,
A splash of orange for that playful bounce in my curl,
A touch of purple for the serenity I feel as I waited,
To fill the white background of the day still yet to be painted

Today’s portrait might look like a red sunset with colors vibrant,
Or it might look like a blue ocean with colors cool,
Whatever the ending portrait may be,
The rainbow of colors on my canvas will show how I really feel.

A streak of red for the love I feel when I save a child from danger,
A dash of yellow for a happy smile I showed to a random stranger,
A line of black for the angry way I slammed my bedroom door,
A dab of green for the envy I feel when I see people with more,
A hint of blue for the sadness I feel when others feel my wrath,
A splash of orange for that playful sound in my laugh,
A touch of purple for the serenity I feel as I waited,
To fill the white background of the day still yet to be painted

Will my canvas show a variety of shades,
Or only the blank portrait of white,
What feelings will I paint with today,
To reflect the colors of my life.

A streak of red for the love I feel when I hold a baby near,
A dash of yellow for a happy moment that brings a tear,
A line of black for the angry thoughts I had in my head,
A dab of green for the envy filled words that I had said,
A hint of blue for the sadness in not saying thanks every once in awhile,
A splash of orange for that playful glint in my smile,
A touch of purple for the serenity I feel as I waited,
To fill the white background of the day still yet to be painted
